The build quality is absolutely amazing.
It is a solid, chunky, aluminium case that houses the excellent quality RS232, with their screw fixings.
Setting the adapter up is as easy as plugging it in, and waiting the few minutes it takes for the OS to integrate the adapter into its system.
It is quick, and so easy that anyone can set it up.

Performance wise, on testing, the adapter performed flawlessly.
Every port was exactly the same, and all four ports performed to the same high standard.
They all were perfectly well-behaved, even when all four were powered at the same time.
There were no errors, or dropped connections, and at no point did any port reject it's cable.
Very impressive.
No downsides, or concerns, were noted during testing.
The evident quality of this adapter make the value of it well worth the asking price.
I would happily pay for the adapter at it's asking price.

The first thing I noted with this product is the quaqlity of the build. It is not a plastic device, like many similar products are, the casing is made of good quality metal.
ReplyDeleteThe reason the casing is important is that plastic can't disapate heat and therefore plastic devices tend to only last a short time. Devices with metal cases can disapate heat so they are much coller internally when in use.
For those that have all the latest hardware this is of no use but for those that have older moniters and printers then this is a great device as it can connect up to four peripherals which can be a mix of printers and monitors or up to four older monitors. Modern (up to date) monitors and printers no longer use serial ports but if asny of your hardware has a serial port as well as USB and / HDMI then this can still be handy as using the serial ports will free up a USB or HDMI one on the PC / laptop.
Each of the serial ports has gold plates terminals, for the best quality connections and each also has a dust cap to keep the terminals clean and fre of debris.
The four serial ports each have three lights to the left of them, red, amber and green. the red light shows that the port is live, the amber light shows when data is being transmitted (sent) and the green shows when data is being received so one can keep an eye on how the ports are performing.
Set up is so easy as this is a P n P device (Plug and Play) so all one needs to do is connect this to a USB port, with the included USB cable and Windows will automatically detect it and load the necessary generic drivers and controllers. The it's a simple matter of connecting the peripherals to the serial ports, with serial cables and Windows will detect anything that connects to this hub and if there aren't already drivers installed Windows will install them.
I am recommending this serial hub as it is well buiilt to a good quality standard, it will last a long time as it is strong and well built. Set up is straight forward and it is good value.
RS232 Adapter oder auch klassische COM-Ports werden entweder zur Verbindung von mehreren PCs miteinander benötigt oder um ältere Hardware, wie Drucker, Industriegeräte oder alte Gamer-Hardware wie Joysticks an den Computer anzuschließen.
ReplyDeleteIch habe bereits mehrere Adapter von bekannten Elektromärkten im Wert von ca. 10 - 20 EUR im Betrieb und hatte oft Probleme mit Port-Einstellungen oder den Übertragungsprotokollen. Wie gut ist dieser Adapter im Vergleich?
Qualität:
Dieser Adapter kommt mit 9-Poligen kleinen Anschlüssen. Es gibt aber Adapter, um die größeren 25-Poligen Geräte anzuschließen, wenn man einen der älteren großen Stecker hat. Der Kasten mit den Ports ist sauber verarbeitet. Es gibt keine scharfen Kanten und die Ports sind stabil und fest im Adapter integriert. Die Kabel lassen sich einfach an- und abstecken und sitzen - auch dank den Feststellschrauben - fest im Port.
Installation:
Windows 10 (64-Bit) erkennt nach dem Einstöpseln des Adapters 4 unbekannte Geräte. Die Anleitung verweist auf eine Treiber CD, die leider nicht in meinem Paket enthalten war. Nach kurzer Suche im Internet nach "DriverGenius 4XRS232" lande ich auf der Hersteller-Seite von VTOP und kann dort einen Treiber für Windows 11 herunterladen. Dieser funktioniert auch hervorragend unter Windows 10. Nach der Installation werden aus den 4 unbekannten Geräten sofort 4 Profilic COM-Ports.
Im Gerätemanager können sämtliche Einstellungen für die unterschiedlichen COM-Ports separat eingestellt werden: Zum Beispiel Start- und Stop-Bits oder die Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit.
Anwendung:
Ich habe den Adapter einmal verwendet, um einen alten Joystick (MS Sidewinder) anzuschließen und einmal, um ein Gerät, welches in der Messtechnik eingesetzt wird auszuprobieren. Es gibt darüber hinaus aber noch weitere Anwendungen, wie in der Automatisierung, in der Netzwerktechnik oder im Überwachungsbereich.
Der Joystick wurde erkannt, es war aber nicht so einfach einen Windows 10 Treiber für den Joystick zu erhalten. Letztendlich hat es aber dann funktioniert. Wobei das nicht am Adapter lag, sondern am alten Joystick.
Das Gerät für die Messtechnik hatte immer wieder Probleme mit einem günstigen Adapter aus dem Elektronikmarkt. Es kam vermehrt zu Verbindungsabbrüchen. Mit diesem Gerät von DriverGenius hatte ich bis jetzt noch keine Probleme. Die Verbindung ist stabil. Ich konnte auch 2 Ports gleichzeitig ohne Probleme verwenden.
Fazit:
Absolut zu empfehlen für Personen, die bis jetzt Schwierigkeiten mit der Installation Ihrer Geräte hatten oder wenn mehr als ein COM-Anschluss benötigt wird.
